My whole life I was an athlete. Playing all sorts of sports. In high school I was a 3 sport athlete. I ran and skiied cross country and played fast pitch. Origionally cross country was just to keep me in shape for softball but endurance quickly became my passion. I loved going into the "pain cave" and pushing myself to my limits. During highschool however I fell in with a bad crowd and began to party. What once was fun slowly became destructive. I spend the next handful of years struggling with addiction. After highschool I moved to Missouri to try and get my life in order. During this time I found sobriety but never healed the root causes. So I began to engage in disordered eating. I would gain weight until I was a version of myself I did not recognize. Eventually I would give my life to Christ which was the first and most profound step towards health in my life. I began to heal and forgive and know my worth. This allowed me to focus on the physical aspect of my life. I did a 30 day paleo challenge and signed up for a half marathon. I was probably 250+ pounds at this time but not really sure since I stopped weighing myself around 240. I ended up finishing the half marathon and rememeber who I was, an athlete. When running was no longer bringining me weight loss or progress I with extreme fear and trepidation decided to try CrossFit. I had little to know weightlifting experience outside of body pump. I could not do ring rows, box jumps, or anything with the barbell. But I fell in love with the challenge. I began to think of myself as an athlete and of course I saw so many aspects of my physical and mental strength grow. I am shocked at not just all I can do but what all of us CrossFitters can do.
I am passionate about helping every member realize their infinite potential. I view every member as an athlete and I want them to feel that way. I love encouraging every member to set goals for themselves. How can they become better? How can they push their capabilities? I believe learning these little things about yourself inside the gym helps you find confidence and strength outside of the gym as well. I want members to learn how to make fitness a part of their lifestyle. I believe the best way to do that is to make it fun, make it accessible, and make it challenging. I want them to know that they can change their lives in ways they would never imagine - both in and out of the gym!
